Christy Woods is an 18 acre property located on the southwest corner of the campus. The area is used as a teaching laboratory for Ball State students as well as the surrounding community. The Ball State Planetarium is a sky theater that can simulate the night sky at any place on Earth, at any time of the year. The planetarium operates from October through the end of April, except during university vacations and examination periods; it is normally closed during the summer months. There is no admission charge.

- Minnetrista Cultural Center
Minnetrista offers various programs, festivals, and exhibits for all ages. The more than 40 acre area includes gardens, historic homes, nature area, sculptures, and shopping.

- Muncie Symphony Orchestra
The Muncie Symphony Orchestra (MSO) offers a selection of classical music performances. All Ball State students can get a free ticket to any MSO concert, and rehearsals are open to BSU music students.
