Are assistantships awarded to all applicants?
Assistantships are awarded by the departments not by the Center for International Programs. Each department selects the students who will be awarded the assistantship. The assistantship positions are very competitive and there are few assistantships per department.
Will an assistantship cover all of my expenses?
No. The assistantship will cover the tuition portion of your educational expenses. You will be responsible for other fees as well as health insurance, technology fees, dedicated fees, Health Center fees, housing and food, books and supplies, and other miscellaneous needs you may have.
When are assistantships awarded?
Assistantships can be awarded as early as February depending upon the department. Each department has various assistantship deadlines that need to be met to be considered for an assistantship. You should check with your individual department for the assistantship deadline.
It is better not to wait to apply at the last minute as you may have something missing from your application that we require and this could cause you to miss the assistantship deadline.
How much are assistantships?
Assistantship stipends range from $4,000 – 9,000 an academic year. The amount of the assistantship is determined in the various departments.
