Malaysian alumni welcome BSU visitor

2007 was proclaimed "Visit Malaysia Year" around the world, and Ball State alumni proved to be outstanding hosts for the university's first official visitor December 7-12.

"Sincere gratitude is due to 1984 graduate Mohd Nasser Mohd Noor for helping me meet so many of our alumni", said international advancement director Martin Limbird. "Nasser and his family were superb hosts."

The high point of Limbird's brief visit to Kuala Lumpur was an elaborate dinner attended by over 15 alumni and their spouses at a country club. Each alumnus reported on his or her career since graduation, recalling their Muncie memories. Those confirming attendance included Kam-long Loke, Khalid Zakaria, Ramlan Abdul Rashid, Azizah Abdullah, Mazni Masbah, Faezah Mastupin, Mohd Nasser Mohd Noor, Mazliza Abd Majd, Ariyani Alip, Mohd Firdaus Mat Zin, Jun Izwani Abdul Aziz, Azlina Abdul Aziz, and Syarifah Seyed Nor Azlan. Unable to attend were Dr. Rozita Rosli and her husband Dr. Ajmal Razak, Dr. Mustafa Al-Emam, and Haroon Haji Awang, but private meetings with Al-Emam and Razak were scheduled later.

Two special events, attending a traditional Malay wedding and a day trip to Malacca, were arranged for Limbird. "Seeing the historical sites of Malacca with Khalid Zakaria and attending the wedding with Nasser and his wife were unforgettable", said Limbird.
