New Kumcu Endowment Grantee Arrives

Bora Senyigit is the first Kumcu Endowment Grantee to study at Ball State under support of funds in honor of Professor Erdogan Kumcu.

Bora Senyigit is the second Kumcu Endowment Grantee to study at Ball State under support of funds in honor of Professor Erdogan Kumcu.

An outstanding doctoral student at Istanbul University is the second to study at Ball State under support of funds given in honor of the late Professor Erdogan Kumcu, professor of marketing and management. Bora Senyigit arrived in August 2007 to undertake a one year MBA degree program at Ball State. Bora is a graduate of Istanbul University, where he completed his master's degree in accounting in 2004 and has finished all preliminary courses for his doctorate at under the direction of Professor Recep Pekdemir.

In addition to taking MBA courses here, Bora assists Miller College of Business administrators Dr. Rod Davis and Dr. Ray Montagno on special projects. He has also presented seminars to the finance and accounting faculty members, reporting on his research, seeking advice, and encouraging expansion of BSU's exchange links with Istanbul University.

"I truly appreciate the financial and academic opportunities given me from this endowment", said the 26 year old Bora, who has taken full advantage of the university's environment. He has also been able to meet with other colleagues in the US, notably Dr. Ozcan Kilic, himself a former visiting scholar at Ball State from Istanbul University. Kilic is currently an associate professor of marketing at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.

In spring 2008, another Istanbul University junior faculty member, Ahmet Turel, will begin master's degree studies in accounting at Ball State.
