Ball State alumna honored at White House

1989 Ball State graduate Lauren (Rong Wu) Seeborg is pictured at a May 2007 reception at the White House where she was introduced to President George W. Bush.

Lauren (Rong Wu) Seeborg, a 1988 master's degree graduate of Ball State University, was presented an Asian Pacific American Leadership Award at the White House in Washington D.C. on May 9, 2007.

The award was given to Asian business leaders who are making a difference in the world. Seeborg heads the Multicultural Business Development area of the Executive Department for State Farm Insurance in Bloomington, Illinois.

In a recent interview, Seeborg reported recalling during the White House ceremonies the importance of Ball State University to her career. "Dr. C. Y. Cheng was a great role model for me as a new immigrant to the U.S.  He taught me the importance of discipline in my work" she said.  "My host family, the late Ms. Peggy Holman, taught me the importance of a positive attitude"said Seeborg.

Seeborg and her family live in Bloomington, Illinois, where she active in local Chinese-American groups.
