The first-ever reunion of all EXEL-O and EDEL-O participants from 1972 through 2005-06 will be held during this year's Ball State University Homecoming activities October 20-21, 2006. These two acronyms describe experimental overseas study programs in the United Kingdom for education majors, the first such overseas program options approved by Ball State University officials.

According to EDEL-O alumnus and elementary education assistant professor Dr. Scott Popplelwell, more than 300 students have participated in these study programs over the years. Among the many former leaders planning to attend the 2006 reunion is Dr. Richard T. Alexander, Jr., emeritus professor and founding director of the EDEL-O .

The first event, an informal reception, will begin at 4:00pm October 20 at Wesley Hall, 1968 W. Main, just south of the Pittinger Student Center. At that time, EXEL-O and EDEL-O alumni will be able to renew acquaintances with fellow students, share memories, pictures and scrapbooks, and learn how these programs have evolved over the years.

Gathering again Saturday morning at Wesley Hall at 8:30am Saturday, a formal welcome and short program will be provided.  As the first of Ball State's overseas study programs, EXEL-O and EDEL-O have expanded the global perspective of their many participants. You will enjoy hearing from recently returned students as they reflect on their overseas study experiences.
