avant garde

Attila Schillinger recently added another “first” to his achievements, being the first international alumnus to be honored by Ball State’s Department of Journalism. He was presented the Young Journalist Alumnus award at the spring departmental awards ceremony held on campus on April 2, 2003.

A 1995 masters graduate in journalism and public relations, Schillinger was named one of the “top 40 young global public relations professionals” by PR Week. Since graduation, he has held posts with Hill and Knowlton in Budapest, in London with the Roland Company and in Heidleberg with WaggenerEdstrom Strategic Communications. In April 2003 Schillinger returned to Budapest as the founding managing director of his own firm, Avant Garde Group.

Throughout his rapidly advancing career, Schillinger has continuously maintained contact with Ball State University. He attended alumni events in London and Mainz and is an active member of Ball State University Public Relations Council.
