If you need to continue in your degree program beyond the date in item #5, you will need to submit the required documents listed below. Forms are available in the reception area of the RCIP office.

Extensions must be processed before the completion date on your current Form I-20. We recommend that you submit your extension paperwork within the semester that your I-20 expires.

Documents required to extend your stay are as follows:

• Student Request Form
• Academic Advisor Recommendation Form
• Current Form I-20
• Passport
• I-94 card
• Proof of financial support for the time period requested for the extension

These forms should be completed and submitted to CIP.

Caution:

Extension of stay in the United States is the student's responsibility. If a student forgets the deadline and applies late, he/she risk denial of the application. If a student is employed and overlooks the date, they are considered to have engaged in illegal employment. Such mistakes can have serious consequences, therefore students should make certain that they apply in a timely fashion.
