Academic advising is the process through which Ball State students, American and International, plan their course schedule. First-year undergraduate students (i.e. Freshman), will be assigned an academic advisor who will help you in selectiong a major and minor, scheduling classes, understanding academic procedures, investigating career goals, etc. Once you have completed your Freshman year and selected an academic major, you will then begin meeting with an academic advisor within their chosen department.
Graduate level students are assigned an advisor within the major department. Your advisor will similarly assist you in registering for classes and understanding the master completion requirements and regulations.
Please note, both undergraduate and graduate international students will not be allowed to register for classes or get a Ball State identification card until he/she has completed our manditory new studnet orientation program.
