Listening Classes
ENEFL 125 — Listening Comprehension 2
The focus in the 125 listening class is on acquiring basic listening strategies, understanding the general meaning of speech, distinguishing the common reductions of American speech, and hearing and pronouncing some of the distinctive consonant and vowel sounds of English.
ENEFL 135 — Listening Comprehension 3
The focus in the 135 listening class is on intermediate listening skills, on understanding rapid speech reductions in conversations and lectures and on discriminating and producing the vowel and consonant contrasts of American English in isolation and in context.
ENEFL 145 — Listening Comprehension 4
The focus in the 145 listening class is on applying the speech reduction principles to listening in authentic everyday and academic contexts, understanding the overall structure of discourse (in particular, lectures and their components), notetaking, and understanding and acquiring patterns of English stress and intonation.
