Right now, in order to use Entourage on the Ball State University campus, you must set up an exchange account.
Setting up Entourage using the exchange server has some added benefits versus using the IMAP server. The biggest difference between imap and exchange is the calendaring events in exchange.
To use Entourage off-campus, you must set up an IMAP server. Please see Knowledge Base Article Number 37 to set up an IMAP server in Entourage. The article is titled "Configure MS Entourage (imap)."
For the Exchanger Server:
Before you do anything, you will need to know your BSU Email Server. To find this information, please visit www.bsu.edu/webmail. Click on Support Console and you should be able to locate your email server. For example, it might be "EMAIL03."
Next, you will also need to setup your search domains in your network preferences before the exchange server will work properly. Open System Preferences by clicking on the blue apple at the top left-hand corner of the screen and selecting System Preferences. Now, under Internet & Network, select Network. Next, click on the drop down menu in the field labeled "Show." Select "Airport." Now, click on the tab at the top of the window labeled TCP/IP.
In the Search Domains Field, type in "bsu.edu"
Now, at the top of the window in the "Show" field, select "Built-in Ethernet." Again, in the Search Domains field, type in "bsu.edu"
You can now close the Network Prefernces window and all your changes will be saved automatically.
Moving back to the Entourage Application, If this is the first time you have launched Entourage, you will be prompted with the Welcome and Setup screen. Please cancel these windows.
Next, in the menu bar, select Acount Settings:
Now, you will need to select the Exchange tab on the right hand side of the window and click the New button at the top left in the window.
You should now see the Entourage Setup Assistant window.
Click on the button at the bottom, left-hand corner of the window that reads Configure Account Manually.
You should now see the Edit Account window.
Fill in your information in the corresponding fields as follows:
Account Name: BSU Email
Name: Your Full Name
Email Address: Your BSU Email Address
Account ID: Your BSU username
Domain: bsu.edu
Password: Your BSU password
Exchange Server: Your BSU Email Server
Next, click on the Advanced tab at the top of the window.
Fill in the information in the following fields as follows:
Pulic Folders Server: Your Email Server/public/ For example: EMAIL12/public/
LDAP server: ldap.bsu.edu
Search base: cn=users,dc=bsu,dc=edu
Under the LDAP Server, uncheck the box that reads "This server requires me to log on." Contrarily, check the box that reads "Override default LDAP port:" and change the value in the field to "0" (the numerical value zero).
Click the bottom at the bottom right-hand corner fo the window that reads OK.
The configuration is now complete.
