10: System Preferences - Displays

The Display preferences allow you to designate your screen resolution and colors.

To set basic display options

Click the "Display" tab.

Designate settings as desired:

Resolutions control the number of pixels that appear on the screen. Setting a higher resolution results in a larger screen area, but smaller contents.

Desktop @ 800 x 600 resolution

Desktop @1024 x 800 resolution

Colors controls the number of colors that appear on the screen. The more colors you have, the better the quality of the screen resolution.

Refresh Rate controls how quickly the screen will refresh itself in hertz. The higher the number, the steadier the image.

Show displays in menu bar displays a menu of recently used settings. You can specify how many resolutions you would like to be shown in the menu.

Contrast and Brightness enable you to adjust the levels of brightness and contrast by using the slider.

To set display color profile

Click the "Color" tab.

Select a Profile to use with your display.
