The rules for every game are based around this core principle. We cannot write rules that will take into account every potential occurrence in every game, which is where Rule #1 steps in. At its heart, this rule simply means that, in situations where the rules are ambiguous, you will play within the spirit of the rules as best you understand them, and give others the benefit of the doubt that they are doing the same.
These rules are created solely for the reason of safety. Some of them were suggested by players, some by moderators, and others by the administration of Ball State.
NPCs, or Non-Player Characters, are placed by the moderators into missions to act as objectives, sources of information, assistants to one team or another, or to perform other roles. In many cases a moderator will act as an NPC, but occasionally player volunteers are used. If you are interested in acting as an NPC, then check the "NPC Opt" box in your UGL Profile Controls. Of course, sharing information acquired as an NPC with any players is strictly forbidden. Every game has a special, permanent NPC — the Mission Photographer. If you have a camera and would rather take pictures of a game than play it, then register for the game and let us know!
