 Re: Stats, Stats, Everywhere Stats!
Just updated the graphs to include the midnight-6AM range. Also, further checking indicates that, actually, the Saylor game had the highest percentage at the midnight mark - but the Nordell game kept logging kills well after midnight, pushing it to the top in the early hours of day two. So last night's claim about being the second highest zombie percentage is actually compared to the Saylor game, not the Nordell game.
Significantly, however, Sam Powell's unrecorded death last night, plus a clerical error on my part means that there were 3 zombies absent from the final tally of the first 24-hour period that I posted last night. This puts the current game at the highest 24-hour zombie percentage rate ever at BSU - a full percentage point ahead of the Saylor game at the same point.
Adding the midnight-6AM range puts the Nordell game as the game to beat (or, rather, the game to slip back under). The current game was mild in after-midnight kills, so the slope has lessened somewhat. As of 6:00 this morning, we're within half a percentage point of the second-highest percentage game at the same time - 22.78% to 23.46%.
Thoughts on new developments?

 Re: Stats, Stats, Everywhere Stats!
Keep in mind that none of our stats have been normalized to account for humans who simply don't come out. This means that percentage points and half percentage points aren't statistically significant. The takeaway is that this game near the top of the pack, rather than whether it's #1 or #2.

 Re: Stats, Stats, Everywhere Stats!
The interesting elements of this story for me are:
#1 How will the mod staff respond to these numbers - Will they keep on with business as normal, or will they attempt to respond to apparent needs of the game?
#2 What actual effects will these responses, assuming there are responses, have on the game.
#3 How will players respond.
So, I guess for me I'm not emotionally invested enough to be mad about anything, or jubilant about the current state of affairs. For me it's more a study of game design and human interaction. Should be interesting to watch.

 Re: Stats, Stats, Everywhere Stats!
That's pretty much my reaction as well. I'm going out and having fun, and I find myself not worrying to much about whether the current state of affairs is "good" or "bad". I had plenty of that last semester. Instead, the nerd in me is just interested to see how this game stacks up over time to the others, statistically. And in nomming humans.

As of the 36-hour mark, we just crossed 25% propagation. Current game remains in the lead by a half-percentage. Graphs updated.
I'm projecting we'll hit 50% within 72 hours of game start.

 Re: Stats, Stats, Everywhere Stats!
Brian, would you humor me, and make a graph with the x axis not done by hours, but by % completion of the game, setting this one to end Monday at midnight?

 Re: Stats, Stats, Everywhere Stats!
I just noticed not all games ended at the same time, so it seemed weird to compare longer games to shorter games.

 Re: Stats, Stats, Everywhere Stats!
Pros and cons. Comparing them as-is allows direct analysis of mission/non-mission times across multiple games, as well as real change over real time. It also allows us to selectively filter games that are dissimilar to our own - for example, we could more easily isolate Lemmy's game as comparable to this game, in terms of expected duration and registration. Time gets fuzzy as a percentage.
