 Re: Zombies Outside Without Headbands?
Yeah. Being that Brian and I wrote this one, I can vouch that this is exactly how the rule was written and meant to be used. You don't get much more solidly within the rules than that.

 Re: Zombies Outside Without Headbands?
But the point of a zombie having to wait half an hour is supposed to be so that they can't pass by a human and then pop out half a minute later, right? It just seems to cheap to say that all you have to do is go inside a building. Although hiding behind a bush to put your headband back on would be against the rules, this seems to result in the exact same scenario.

 Re: Zombies Outside Without Headbands?
A zombie not wearing the headband is like a human not wearing an arm band. If we don't know you're playing, then you might as well not be. But you need to have your headband on for thirty minutes before you can go out and tag someone.
Just keep this in mind for the next time you play. Its a rather shady move.

 Re: Zombies Outside Without Headbands?
This is the rule, copy/pasted from the list. All of it is very intentional. No, it is not equivalent to hiding behind a bush to put a bandana on, because it involves a safe zone and being fairly visible. Also note, it says "enter a building", not "enter a safe zone".

 Re: Zombies Outside Without Headbands?
But what if the zombie's in the building with me? I know I looked behind to make sure I wasn't being tailed whenever I left, so how could I protect myself from a zombie that noticed me leaving with an armband and was right behind me?

Suspect everyone.
Seriously, you can't protect yourself from every attack, nor should you be able to. This game is deliberately unbalanced, against the humans. Also, remember that safezones extend 30 ft from the doors, and that the zombie has to put on his bandana before he even exits the building.

 Re: Zombies Outside Without Headbands?
The rule as is enables the game to mimic one of the most exciting parts of a zombie movie - the sudden swarm. Its a familiar element in the zombie horror genre where the protagonist will be moving through an area that is seemingly safe only to have a number of zombies rapidly attack, as if from thin air. In the zombie apocalypse, zombies could be hiding anywhere and moving anywhere, and the game has to simulate this with a finite player base. Its the same reason that zombies have a fifteen minute stun time instead of just dying like a human would.
Also, don't forget that as a human player the same rule applies inside buildings for you as well. Nothing says you must be marked when you are inside a building. If I am mistaken, please correct me.

 Re: Zombies Outside Without Headbands?
This is not true. Since a zombie can't tag anyone without it, it's almost like a human skipping a mission, which happens quite often. I personally take off the headband when I'm busy, or only have 5 minutes to get to class. Rarely do I wear it in the middle of the day, because I don't want the game interfering with me getting somewhere on time. I think that the ability to not play during the day is one of the nicer aspects of being a zombie, and I would not call it shady. What I do is keep the band off until I'm in the airlock, look around for anyone suspicious, and then put it on right before leaving. If there is absolutely no one behind you, then there is obviously not a zombie there.
