Post Stupid questions...
I really want to Legitimately mod a weapon the traditional way....I bought a longshot and am determined to keep the springs and make them work...but I gotta know...

HOW do you take the AR out of this thing?!

I kinda went backwards and did it with the deploy before learning the one it seems everyone learned first, thus when I opened the Longshot, I was completely baffled...

Pics?
Explanation?
also, is 7 springs too much power?

The best answer I can give is that it's the wrong question. The simplest advice to that question I can give is that 7 springs all interacting with each other will be more trouble than they're worth. Doubling up springs can be effective, but 7? Friction issues galore.

Multiple Springs tend to be more trouble than they are worth. It is hard to get springs that nest well, and I personally have never seen any power gain from adding an extra spring.

In my experience it is always better to add a stiffer or larget spring if you can. And as for the AR removeal on the LS. You can find more than what you need here

Yes it is - you have to scroll through the manufacturers to Nerf, then scroll to the Longshot section. Coincidentally, the Longshot section is at the top of the second post.

2 maverick springs and a vanilla longshot spring are what power me and Sabo's longshots. Alternatively you can use an AR-15 spring instead of the vanilla spring but you're trading power for accuracy. You need to decide what is important; power or accuracy.

I'll help you in whatever you need help with. If there is any gun that I am intimately familiar with then it is definitely the longshot. It's my rifle and my pride and joy :D

Spring replacements are what KILL Longshots, above all else. Srsly. Like, plastic blowing up and shredding internals. Fun to listen for when it happens, but not good for wartime.

Really, sealing the hole and removing the AR would be all you need. The hole takes e-tape, and the ARs just need some strong scissors.

To remove the AR, take out the entire plunger and sled assembly. Unscrew and remove the internal plunger, then look into the assembly from the back and you'll see a black piece that looks pretty solid--but it's most definitely not. You should see 3 prongs holding in a central black piece; take some long scissors (or maybe needle-nose pliers) and cut those, then the entire AR will fall out leaving only the dart peg, which you can drill out if you want (though I never have, since I think it helps loading and absolutely prevents darts from falling too far back into the plunger). Screw the internal spring back in and put 'er back together. Voila. Easiest mod in the book, imo, since it only requires a screwdriver and scissors.

EGADS!!! If only I had known....Nerfhaven(after I finally found a relavant page after going back to Google several times, despite the given link) said to cut the thing apart and remove, then glue necessary bits back together...I found that highly impractical, but managed to bang out the better part of it from the front...e-tape wouldnt stay over the hole....and I hate springs....i shall continue on the morrow...

Eww, you got a bad egg. I've experienced it too; my second blue LS is the same way. The cocking parts of the plunger are tighter than the other weps, so it peels up the e-tape after very little use. I haven't really found a remedy other than cutting it so it covers practically only the hole. I imagine it's probably just easier to glue the hole up, but I hate glue.

And yes, I hate springs too. Though I will, for the first time, be replacing the spring in something and keeping it that way. But that's for another day, methinks. ;)

Anyway, if you're really interested in pursuing spring theory (ha!), then don't bother with the directory, you want this wonderful guide on springs. It's a long read, but well worth it, and the Longshot is actually one of the specific examples cited and covered.

If your increase in power is decreasing your accuracy, then your barrel is shorter than it should be.
