Re: Discussion: Impeachment of Jose Cantu

See, this is a bad idea (in my opinion, of course). Yes, we have done a bad job of getting new members involved in leadership positions, but the idea that older members "contaminate" the organization is quite frankly ridiculous. In most organizations, the higher leadership positions tend to be juniors and seniors. It is not strange or bad to have older players in leadership positions. However, your point is not entirely wrong.
What needs to happen, and what is probably going to happen with the new administrative assistant and committee positions, is younger members becoming higher ups gradually. Simply "letting the youngin's take over" suddenly is about as good an idea as overcorrecting while driving. It should happen, yes, but it should be a gradual process. Dropping older members out completely is like ignoring the history, and in a young organization (we are only 4 years old at this point) our history can help us improve ourselves.
Having been here since UGL was founded, I have seen 3 different admins elected, and the organization has indeed been improving. We're far from dying, and the "old blood" is certainly not destroying us. I think the organization of UGL is very good despite minor glitches, which seem to get ironed out fairly quickly. Sure, at this point it seems like everyone in charge has been here for ages, but that really isn't uncommon in organizations. In a few years, the juniors and seniors will seem just as old as we do now, and will likely be in charge. What we can and should be doing is improving the structure of UGL and giving younger members some responsibility alongside older members.
(Also throwing it out there that it should be a responsibility of any admin to get themselves some (plural!!!) younger mods so that when they are juniors and seniors, they are ready to take over.)
