Re: Imma just leave this here...
Here is a short list of FREE various external (outside UGL) sources that we can utilize for promotional needs:
1) Channel 55 (movie channel) Slides
During hours when movies are not shown on Ball State's movie channel (ch. 55), a continuous slideshow of information and advertisements for campus organizations runs. To submit an advertisement for the channel, one needs to download and fill out the PDF form, the link for which can be found here (http://cms.bsu.edu/CampusLife/Housing/S ... nel55.aspx
), and submit the form to the Housing & Residence Life email account.
2) "Events This Week" weekly student life email
Each week the Office of Student Life sends out an email to a massive list of students, informing them of upcoming events on campus. To submit an organization's event information for inclusion in the email, one needs only to fill out the form located here (http://www.bsu.edu/forms/studentlife/eventsubmit/
3) Press Releases to student media
By contacting the various student media outlets, UGL can spread the information around campus through means of the student newspaper, radio station and television station which are regularly consumed by university students. In drafting formal press releases to the media outlets, we can not only invite them to cover our games and events for their benefit (story material) but we can also invite them personally to participate in the events.
Other promotional ideas
1) Hall Council visits
Visiting the residence hall's hall council meetings can be incredibly effective in building interest in the games/events within the on-campus community. Why this is almost more important that any other PR ploy is due to it's ability to directly reach younger students (freshmen & sophomores) who can become long time participants and members of the organization.
2) "Flyswatter" by North Quad
This "billboard" located new North Quad and the Scramble Light resembles a flyswatter and bears announcements and banners about upcoming events. This space may be reserved in the Student Center Reservations Office. It may be used for a three-day period, and is reserved on a first-come, first-served basis. Only one side of the banner space may be used for an organization at a time. Your are responsible for obtaining the key to the Fly Swatter at the SC Reservations Office and for putting up or taking down the banner.Credit for compilation of this list to Rachel Spudic
