Recognition Program
Ball State University has annually recognized service personnel since 1956 and initiated the staff recognition program in 1965.  The tradition continues each spring when about 200 employees are honored for years of service and retirement.

Only regular full-time staff and service employees with continuous years of service to the university are eligible for years of service recognition. Years not worked in regular full-time status are not calculated into the number of years used for recognition purposes. This does not affect the years calculated toward retirement. Employees with questions about retirement benefits may contact Payroll and Employee Benefits at 285-8461.

Years of service recognition begins at 10 years of service and at each 5-year increment thereafter.  Employees are also recognized for special achievements as follows:

Staff Personnel Achievement Awards:

A. Jane Morton Award

An award initiated by the Office of Academic Research in 1979 and presented annually by Staff Council in honor of the late A. Jane Morton.  The award cites a Ball State employee by peer nomination for outstanding service to the university.

The Meritorious Service Award

The Meritorious Service Award was initiated in 1986.  University officers present these awards for contributions made to the university.
