Professional contract position available immediately; full-time assignment of 248 days per year. Responsibilities: provide leadership and advocacy for programs and services to students with disabilities; provide consultation and technical assistance to school and Indiana Department of Correction personnel regarding special education policies and procedures; provide support in the collection, analyzing and monitoring of data in managing and improving special education services; support other teachers with compliance to all federal and Indiana Department of Education mandated rules and regulations.
Minimum qualifications: bachelor's degree or higher in special education or related field; current Indiana licensure in special education; experience in the development and management of a special education program at the school level; demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the special education laws, regulations, rules and policies and procedures; demonstrated ability to make sound judgments and prioritize activities; demonstrated ability to deal effectively and appropriately with students and other educational professional regarding student concerns and problems; demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the federal and state compliance requirements for special education; demonstrated knowledge and understanding of current technical aids appropriate for the population to be served; demonstrated computer proficiency.Preferred qualifications: master's degree or higher in special education; at least one year of experience in coordinating a special education program.
