Rent
Rent is due by the Bursar's billing date or no later than the first of the month. If the first of the month falls on a weekend or holiday, rent will be due on the last working day before the first of the month. For late rent, a late fee of $25 will automatically be assessed to your account at the end of the business day.
To pay rent on-line, use Ball State's Cardinal QuickPay at www.bsu.edu/quickpay. Rent may also be paid in person at the Bursar's Office, Lucina Hall Room B-31. Payment is accepted in cash, check, or money order. Sorry, but at this time credit and debit cards are not accepted.
Registering Your Vehicle
You must register your vehicle at the Office of Parking Services. Once you have a parking sticker/cling from Parking Services, you will need to bring the cling and your license plate number to the University Apartments office to receive your resident sticker. Both stickers must be displayed on the driver's side windshield of your automobile.
If you purchase a different car, you will need a new resident sticker. The old resident sticker will need to be scrapped off your windshield and pieces taken to the University Apartments office to obtain a new sticker. If you do not bring your old sticker, you must show proof of sale (or a receipt) of the original car that the sticker was on.
Visitor Parking
Visitors can only park in Visitor Spaces AND must have a Visitor Parking Permit. The Visitor Parking Permit can be obtained from the University Apartments office. It there is not a Visitor Space available or the office is closed to obtain an pass, visitors may park in the parking lot in front of the University Apartments office. Visitor Parking Permits can be dated for up to one week. Consecutive weekly passes will not be issued unless they are authorized by the University Apartments office.
Maintenance
If there is something in your apartment that needs repair, there are two ways to report the problem. Please contact the University Apartments office at 5-5095 (preferred) or submit a work order on-line at www.bsu.edu/housing using the Fix My Home Web. We prefer that residents use the telephone to make a request, so we may access your problem immediately and gather additional information if needed.
Maintenance staff is available for repairs to apartments from 7:30 a.m.-4 p.m., Monday through Friday during the academic year, and 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday during the summer. If you have an emergency that requires repair after hours, please contact the University Policy at 5-1111.
Florescent light bulbs, smoke detector batteries, refrigerator light bulbs, and stove hood light bulbs may be obtained at the University Apartments office. Just bring the old battery or bulb and we will provide you with a new one. After the first 30 days living in the apartment, residence are responsible for replacing regular incandescent light bulbs.
It is highly recommended that all residents purchase a plunger for their toilet. A plunger can be invaluable if your toilet becomes clogged. If you flush the toilet once and it begins to back up, you should plunge it immediately. Do not flush a second time or it can overflow. The water will likely go down after plunging. If it doesn't please contact the University Apartments office or contact University Police after hours.
Other Information
Anthony Apartment residents must obtain tags for bicycles or grills left outside. Personal items not tagged are considered to be abandoned property and will be removed by maintenance.
If you are locked out of your apartment during University Apartments office hours, come to the office to get a lock out key. If you are locked out after business hours, please contact the University Policy at 5-1111.
Freshwater fish and small birds in cages are the only pets permitted. No other pets of any kind are permitted. Pets of visitors also are not permitted.
All air conditioners for Scheidler Apartments must be installed by University Apartments maintenance staff. Specifications and request forms are available at the office or on-line. The living room and master bedroom (largest bedroom) are the only locations where they can be installed.
