Housing and Residence Life
Services - Air Conditioning
While some residence halls offer central air conditioning (Baker/Klipple, Palmer/Davidson, Painter/Whitcraft, Park), the Office of Housing and Residence Life understands that some students with medical needs may require air conditioning in buildings without central air.

For this reason, students with written authorization from the Office of Housing and Residence Life may rent air conditioners for their residence hall rooms. The yearly rental fee is $90, which includes installation.

(Please do not bring a roll away or freestanding air conditioning unit for your room. Plan to request an air conditioner from Housing and Residence Life and follow the established guidelines.)

To request an air conditioner, there are two forms that must be completed and submitted to the Office of Housing and Residence Life. The forms include

  1. Student Request for Air Conditioner (for the student to complete)
  2. Medical Verfication for Student Air Conditioner Request (for your physician to complete) (Sorry, a prescription from your physician will not be accepted and the physician should complete the form in its entirety. Please use the Medical Verification form instead.)

Contact the Office of Housing and Residence Life at 765-285-8000 copies of both forms and for additional information. Or, click on the links above to download the PDFs. (Requires Adobe Acrobat.)

Mail or FAX both completed forms to:
Director
Housing and Residence Life
Ball State University
Muncie, IN 47306-0825
FAX: 765-285-3743

Once the forms are received, a review of the information provided will be made, and our office will respond as soon as possible. An air conditioning contract will be mailed to you upon approval.
Completed forms must be postmarked no later than July 1 in order to ensure installation in a student's room before move-in. Should your form arrive after July 1, it may take up to two weeks after move-in before installation may occur.
