Kenneth Swope joined the Department of History in August 2004.  He currently serves as the Director of Graduate Programs (M.A.) in History. Swope has served as a textbook reviewer for Houghton Mifflin, and as a reviewer for the Midwestern Association of Graduate Schools Distinguished Thesis Competition.  He is a board member of the Society for Ming Studies and the Chinese Military History Society.  He has reviewed for The Journal of Interdisciplinary History, the Journal of Economic and Social History of the Orient, and History: Review of New Books. In June 2008, he was an invited participant in the prestigious Military History Seminar at the United States Military Academy at West Point.
