Our Purpose

When we build a house we make crucial decisions regarding cost, size, location, all the way down to the color of the walls, but ensuring that we are constructing a healthy environment rarely, if ever, crosses our mind. Yet shouldn’t this be the first factor in which we take into account? We spend more time in our homes than anyplace else on earth, breathing its air, drinking its water, being warmed by its furnaces and cooled by its air conditioning. We are at the mercy of our environment at the most fundamental level; therefore it seems inconceivable that few people ever consider whether they are constructing healthful surroundings.
This lack of concern is partially due to a lack of education. Since few people building homes today utilize an architect to look after their investment, and home builders rarely posses sufficient knowledge of healthy home principles, it unfortunately becomes the job of the home buyer to be educated in constructing a healthy environment. Therefore, it is the aim of this website to bring this information to the public in order to promote the construction of more efficient, safer, and healthier homes.
The following pages contain a wide variety of information regarding the principles of constructing a healthy home, along with information about three experimental homes which test and demonstrate these principles. A link page connects this page with other pertinent websites. The combination of these resources will hopefully arm the potential home buyer or current homeowner with the necessary information to construct an environment which will provide a suitable place to live for you and your family.
