Interfraternity Council General Information

The Interfraternity Council (IFC) is the governing body of the 10 men's fraternities hosted by Ball State University.  The fraternity community elects men to serve on the IFC to manage and organize community programs such as recruitment, educational speakers and service projects.  Taken from their constitution - "The Ball State University Interfraternity Council commits to promoting positive values, providing experiential learning opportunities, and fostering leadership development while forging lifelong connections to Ball State University."

Interfraternity Council 2008 Recruitment Information

The Interfraternity Council hopes to recruit quality men that can have a lasting positive impact on the Greek community and the Ball State campus as a whole.

Fraternity recruitment is a week-long process where each fraternity holds events each day.  As a potential new member, you can visit each fraternity event to meet brothers and participate in the different activities.  You are encouraged to visit more than one fraternity (in fact, we encourage you visit as many as possible) to find which group is the best fit for you.Look for fliers and informational tables around campus for more information.

Fraternity Formal Recruitment 2008

Schedule

Ball State Fraternity Formal Recruitment will take place Sunday, September 14-Friday, September 19.  By taking part in Fraternity Formal Recruitment, you get the opportunity to meet men from all 10 fraternities on campus and learn a little about each chapter.  We have provided an outline of the schedule below to help you understand what to expect from this process:

Meet the Greeks

Saturday, August 23 5:00pm @ Worthen Arena Lounge & Activity Fair directly following from 6:00-8:00pm & Wednesday August 27 8:00pm @ Cardinal Hall, Student Center.

Meet the Greeks is an event that gives new students the opportunity to meet different sorority and fraternity members at Ball State.  At the event you will learn the basic information and knowledge to be successful in seeking membership in a group.  You will also gain knowledge to be able to have conversations and ask questions to chapters.  The event includes having each fraternity and sorority having a table where they provide information about their group.

Fraternity Open House Tours

Sunday, September 14 3:00pm, meet @ Student Center Forum Room

Fraternity Open House Tours is an event that provides interested men the opportunity to be introduced to the recruitment process, to learn what benefits each fraternity provides, the personality of each fraternity and to learn what events each fraternity is offering in the upcoming week.  Interested men will have time to socialize with other interested men, Interfraternity Council officers and members from each chapter.

Fraternity Scholarship Information

Many of the fraternites at Ball State offer scholarships to incoming male students.  Most of the scholarships do not require you to ever join a fraternity at Ball State.  The fraternities provide scholarships to an incoming freshman male based upon academics, involvment in high school extracurricular activities or event the amount of community service performed before arriving at Ball State.

You can find four fraternities who provide scholarships in our Fraternity Scholarship Announcement.  In addition, the details are explained about each scholarship on the Fraternity Incoming Student Scholarships webpage.   The information provided in the Fraternity Scholarship Announcement and on the webpage is a resource to you, the incoming male student!  We hope you'll consider applying for one or all of these awards.
