Basic Position Responsibilities
- Participate in the training program from August 15 to August 19, 2007
- Participate in staff development programs of Student Life and the Division of Student Affairs
- Attend bi-weekly Greek staff meetings
- Attend bi-weekly Student Life staff meetings
- Meet weekly with supervisor
- Submit a weekly report on the chapter, housing operations and scholarship issues to supervisor by 8:00 a.m. Monday mornings
- Uphold all National, local and university policies.
- Act as a role model for students understanding that this position is a highly visible one on and off campus
- To not engage in any inappropriate relationships with any Greek undergraduate students
Chapter Interaction & Programming
- Work with the chapter officers to promote a positive environment conducive to learning and personal growth
- Educate members on and ensure adherence to all National, local and university policies.
- Assist the chapter judicial board and officers in confronting violations of state and local law, the Ball State University Student Code, fraternity risk management policies, and Social Events Policy
- Meet bi-weekly with the chapter president
- Meet bi-weekly with the house manager
- Meet with the chapter scholarship chair three times a semester (beginning, middle, end)
- Attend chapter meetings regularly to make announcements and ensure a visible staff presence
- Attend the fraternity executive committee meetings
- Work with the chapter officers on chapter operation issues
- Monitor chapter progress toward meeting the Greek Excellence expectations
- Assist chapter with new member and member development workshops and educational programs
- Meet with the national headquarters staff when they are in town
- Conduct a meeting with the faculty advisor (or Greek academic advisor) and scholarship chair at the beginning of each semester
- Conduct a meeting with the chapter advisor, housing corporation president (if applicable) and chapter president (together) each semester to establish live in advisor expectations and review/develop chapter goals
- Counsel students and respond to crises that may occur in the chapter house
- Be visible to students and parents at special chapter events if invited
- Ensure roster updates, forms and other paperwork is submitted promptly to Office of Student Life (officer updates, anti-hazing agreements, etc.)
- Demonstrate an understanding of the fraternity values, purpose and goals
Facilities Management
- Conduct a daily walk-through of the entire facility (common access and floors)
- Ensure that all maintenance issues are reported and completed in a timely manner
- Assist with enforcement of live in policy (may vary from chapter to chapter)
- Assist with implementation of encumbrance policy when necessary
- Communicate regularly with the fraternity Housing Corporation
- Attend fraternity Housing Corporation meetings
- Work with the chapter officers on maintaining an attractive, clean and safe house
- Work with the house manager to conduct house meetings at the beginning and end of each semester and whenever necessary
- Ensure a fire drill is conducted each semester
- Ensure that a fire inspection is completed at the beginning of the academic year and follow up on necessary repairs
- Assist with opening and closing duties during all breaks (Thanksgiving, Winter, Spring, and closing) if applicable
On-Call Duties
Serve on the on-call rotating schedule
Perform other duties as assigned
