Goal
The Office of Student Life, in conjunction with the governing councils, will address the need for both individual and chapter leadership development in fraternities and sororities.
What we're going to do:
- Revise the curriculum of the Greek leadership course and develop a marketing plan to encourage participation.
- Create a specific program for consistent and intentional officer transitions for chapters and councils.
- Develop a mission statement and planning guide for Greek 101 (the new member program).
Progress
- The curriculum of the Greek leadership course has been revised to focus on emerging leaders and a marketing plan has been developed to encourage participation in the course. The leadership course is 2 credit hours and is taught by the Assistant Director of Student Life each fall. It will be held Wednesdays from 3-4:40 during fall 2008.
- The EdHi 401 promotional video clip was finalized and distributed through facebook and the Greek Weekly Newsletter after spring break. Students begin signing up for the class in April. Spots are still available!
- The council executive board transition program was implemented in December and has been evaluated. The results will be used to improve the plan for next year.
- This semester a chapter officer transition retreat template was created and it will be offered to chapters next fall. The retreat is flexible and easily adapted to meet specific chapter needs.
- A Greek 101 committee was formed to review the Greek 101 new member education program and develop a plan for a new program.
