The Office of Student Life, in conjunction with Housing and Residence Life and alumni house corporation boards, will provide fraternity and sorority members with living and meeting space that is safe, attractive, and conducive to learning.

What we're going to do:

• Assess use of current sorority suites and the future Greek Village option and develop a long-term plan.
• Conduct an annual meeting with Housing and Residence Life staff, the Office of Student Life staff and sorority representatives to discuss policies, future plans and contracts with regards to sorority suites.
• Create a housing Web site and updat it regularly.  Greek Village updates will also be provided in the Greek Weekly Newsletter.
• Gather and distribute resources to local housing corporations to assist in areas such as facility maintenance, lease options, financial stability, and chapter/alumni programming.

Progress

•  A sorority housing exploratory committee was formed in May 2007 to conduct research and determine if an interest for a Greek Village existed at Ball State.  The group has met several times since being formed.  The committee met on March 18^th to review the research conducted and determine the next course of action. The committee recommended moving forward to phase II.
• Phase II of the sorority village project includes forming a more permanent work group composed of 1 rep from each sorority.  The group is charged with creating a design and financial model so the local and national organizations can decide if they want to build sorority houses at Ball State.  The group met on May 13^th.  Minutes are located on the Greek Village page.
• Student, advisor and general alumni surveys were administered during late summer.  An executive summary was created and is available on the Greek Village website.  Focus groups were conducted in mid November and results are also available on the Greek Village website.  Click here to learn more about the Greek Village Project. 
• A housing Web site has been created.  It includes information about the Greek Village project, pictures of the sorority houses and the January sorority open house ceremony.  Updates on the Greek Village project are included in each Greek Alumni Newsletter and regularly in the Greek Weekly Newsletter.
