Goal
The Greek community will support the Ball State University mission by establishing academic standards for all Greek councils to ensure that all chapters will maintain a grade point average above the all-men's or all-women's average.
What we're going to do:
- Conduct a meeting with new member educators and scholarship chairs each semester to discuss the scholarship component of the new member program.
- Require all chapters to submit a scholarship plan for the upcoming semester.
- Publicize chapter grade rankings in the Daily News, all relevant promotional material and Greek Life website.
- Assist chapters with locating and utilizing faculty advisors.
- Create a Greek specific faculty advisor handbook and develop a recruitment process.
- Eliminate the Fraternity Advisory Committee academic policy and implement a new all Greek academic policy.
- Enhance the recognition programs of outstanding chapters at the Grand Chapter awards program.
Progress:
- Meetings were held last fall with new member educators and scholarship chairs to discuss the scholarship component of the new member program and to ensure that those officers understand the objectives and expectations of the new members' scholarship program. This spring 3 roundtables were conducted with new member educators and scholarship chairs. A summary report will be created highlighting the outcome of those meetings.
- A training program for all scholarship chairs was held this semester to assist them in creating effective scholarship plans and supporting members academically.
- The scholarship plans were collected in the fall and spring semesters. Feedback has been provided to the chapters on how to improve the plans and make them more effective.
- Due to limited financial resources grade rankings were not published this semester in the Daily News.
- A draft Greek specific faculty advisor handbook was created and will be finalized over the summer. This will be distributed to faculty advisors in the fall.
- The Academic Achievement Implementation Team has met several times. The team has reviewed the Fraternity Advisory Committee academic policy and the IFC academic policy in addition to other campus policies. Review the meeting minutes.
