Leadership/Membership Development Observations

The Ball State Greek community needs to utilize a centralized, multi-tiered, intentional leadership development program that is geared towards fraternity and sorority members. New member programs for fraternities at Ball State are not as productive as they should be. Nearly all chapters fail to have an effective member development program that goes beyond just their new members/pledges.

SOA must create a leadership continuum that provides targeted leadership development for new members, general members, emerging leaders, and chapter/council officers - Utilize other university offices, departments, community leaders and alumni.
SOA should develop a system of intentional officer transition assistance for chapters and councils.
SOA should provide assistance to chapters for overall member development vs. only new members.
SOA and the councils should provide chapters with programming and schedule ideas for positive new member development.
