Active chapter advising teams are needed for all of the groups if the fraternity/sorority community at Ball State is going to improve. Alumni need to be educated about the changes occurring in the Greek community, and the interest and investment the university has in bettering the community. Non-Greek volunteers can also be used to help advise/mentor groups.
- Hold periodic advisor meetings for all alumni and volunteer advisors of chapters.
- University should work with councils and chapters on ways to address rowdy alumni.
- Identify smaller roles or other ways alumni/volunteers can get involved with chapters (i.e. mentoring, networking, presenting programs, etc.)
- Identify potential community members who are willing to advise chapters and provide on-going education/training to them.
- SOA, Finance, and Development offices need to identify key donors from each fraternity that may be able to create a capital campaign for all the chapters.
