Specific degree programs based on high standards of excellence, innovation, applied research, and service lay the groundwork for careers as school principals and superintendents, curriculum and instructional leaders, adult and community educators, human resource developers, public service executives, and additional organizational leadership roles in education.
Students benefit from the experience and knowledge of a respected faculty of teacher-scholars who serve not only as teachers and mentors, but also as active consultants to state departments of education, boards of education, superintendents, and principals in a five-state region.

Applied Opportunities
Internships, consisting of two semesters of active participation in the process of school administration for EDAD 696 participants and EDAD 694 and 791 participants are required. Interns are under the direct supervision of an experienced educational administrator and a member of the faculty of the Department of Educational Leadership. A wide range of activities is provided to ensure orientation in educational administration as a broad field.
Application/Admission Requirements
- Applicants must meet the admission requirements of the Graduate School and of the department. Students may apply online to the Graduate School or contact the department for an application.
- Licensure candidates must contact the Educational License Office in Teachers College 918.
- The department considers the following factors in reviewing applications: grade point average, experience, references, written philosophy, GRE scores if applying for the Ed.S. or Ed.D. programs, and personal interviews.
- Contact the department for specific requirements for each program: master's, specialist, and doctoral.
- International students must apply through the Rinker Center for International Programs.
Graduate Assistantships
Competitive assistantships with tuition remission (Students are responsible for dedicated fees.) typically require 20 hours of work as a research assistant or as support staff for programs or grants. An endowment fund supports graduate student research and travel to present research at meetings of professional societies.
