The Department's graduate track in School Psychology is based on the scientist-practitioner model. The doctoral track is accredited by the American Psychological Association (Office of Accreditation of the APA 202-336-5979 - www.apa.org) and meets requirements for licensure as a Psychologist through the Indiana Health Professions Bureau and the psychology boards of other states. The masters/Ed.S. track is approved by the National Association of School Psychologists. Students develop competencies in assessment, consultation, intervention, and prevention through coursework, clinic and field-based practica, and internship.
The course sequence also includes the study of human development, individual differences, learning, curriculum, research methods, statistics and neuropsychology. Practicum and internship experiences focus on both regular and special education classrooms, and development of working partnerships with teachers and parents.
Specialized training in cognates such as neuropsychology, human development, research methods, educational psychology, counseling and clinical psychology is available.
