Jian-sheng (Jason) Yang is an Assistant Professor of Geography. He has been at Ball State since 2005.  His principal areas of research interests include terrestrial remote sensing, geospatial analysis, natural resources management & environmental monitoring, and vegetation mapping in wetlands habitat & surface coal mines.  Jian-sheng most recent publications appear in Wetlands (2006), International Journal of Remote Sensing (2005), Journal of Environmental Informatics (2004), Urban Habitat (2004), and Journal of Air & Waste Management Association (2002).  His most frequently taught classes include Introductory Geographic Information Systems, Introductory Remote Sensing, Advanced Remote Sensing, Research Methods in Geography, and Quantitative Methods in Geography.  He received his B.S. (1989) from Shanxi University, China, his M.S. (1999) from the University of Connecticut, and his Ph.D. (2003) from the University of Rhode Island.
