Subject: Math – Graph
Grade: 3
Standard: Number Sense
(Standard 1)
Key Concept: Data can be
organized in many ways.
Generalization: Organizing
data in graphic form can help us visually make predictions.

Tiered in product
Tier I: There will be a
prepared line, bar, and circle graph with data regarding weather (temperature
or precipitation. Along with them will be a list of questions compiled. Students will have to find the graph that
will give them their answers and answer the question. They will then need to create
some additional questions (2
per graph), and their answers. An extra
activity would be to create a graph from data that will be made available for
them.
Tier II: Students will gather data from the web sites made available and create two graphs (line, bar, or circle).
EX: use data for weather (temperature and precipitation) in Indianapolis during the fall and winter or spring and summer. They will graph them on two different graphs. Afterwards students will write some predictions from their graphs, or see if there is some cause and effect. Work with others in the group to make sure they get a city from a different geological location, so that students can draw some conclusions or see if there are some cause and effects.
Assessment: The answers to the questions posed will be
checked and shared. Teacher will assess
informally while visiting each group. Rubrics
will also be used.
