How Do You Recommend Handling Separation Anxiety?

Some children and/or families find separation difficult. Separation anxiety is a normal part of growth. Families are encouraged to develop a goodbye routine such as saying "goodbye", a kiss, a hug, and a wave. This will help the child adjust quickly and develop a sense of security. Keeping in mind these ideas one must:

  • Be consistent
  • Always say goodbye
  • Avoid lingering after you have said goodbye
  • Prepare your child for any changes
