What Will My Infant/Toddler Do On A Typical Day?
- Inside Activities: The first forty five minutes of the lab session are designed for the free "choice" play that revolves around learning centers designed by the Infant/Toddler Program staff ans students. This time would include dramatic play, free expression art, science and math activites, and other creative activities that enhance small and large motor skills, cognitive skills and social/emotional skills.
- Snack: A variety of snacks are served based on the food pyramid, a nutritionally sound program developed by the U.S.D.A. They are chosen in order to promote the use of utensils and fingers. Self-help skills and appropriate behavior are encouraged. Daily snack menus are posted on the Infant/Toddler Parent Information bulletin boards. Three school snacks are served each day. Parents my bring additional snacks to be served to their child during extended care.
- Circle Time: This time emphasizes the weekly theme. A combination of songs, music, story telling, finger plays, and active physical participation is used.
- Outdoor Classroom: The activities in our outdoor learning environment are designed to encourage large muscle development. Children are given opportunities to have outdoor play everyday, weather permitting.
-
In addition, teachers and college students add new activities each day that relate to the current themes. These involve dramatic play, science, sensorimotor, and the discovery table.
