1. Intern will meet the high standards of dietetic entry lever professionals.
- Intern will complete the course sequence as specified for the Dietetic Internship with a grade point average of 3.0 (B average) or better.
- Intern will demonstrate their ability to problem solve and use efficiently and effectively techniques and tools for managing foodservice systems.
- Intern will provide comprehensive nutrition care based on accurate and complete assessment, and careful planning to diverse populations.
- Intern will provide accurate food and nutrition information in a variety of community settings, that serve populations in various stages of the life cycle.
- Intern will achieve a pass rate of 80% or higher, for first-time test takers on the registration exam for dietitians.
- Interns will seek and obtain gainful employment in the dietetic field and/or complete advanced degrees.
- Employers will positively evaluate students as entry-level practitioners.
3. Graduates will be able to demonstrate professional growth that shows readiness for entry level dietetic work.
- Preceptor perception of the intern's the ability to think critically will be reflected in positive rotation evaluation.
- Preceptor perception of the intern's ability to practice ethically will be reflected in positive rotation evaluation.
- Intern developed portfolios will show quality work.
- Intern will use a self-assessment tool to establish the process of personal professional development.
4. Interns will acquire a commitment to the support of professional dietetic organizations.
- At least 75% of the students will be affiliate or student members of a professional dietetic organization, including The American Dietetic Association and local district associations.
- Interns will have opportunities to participate in field experiences in other areas of dietetic practice and professional meeting, conferences, and/or workshops.
- Interns will be aware of the ADA code of ethics and its importance to the profession of dietetics.
5. Interns will show satisfaction with the program and their experiences during the internship.
- 90% of the students who start the internship will complete the program.
- Interns will demonstrate an understanding of program requirements (financial, housing, transportation etc.) throughout the internship.
- Interns will express adequate preparation for entry-level positions.
