Ball State University's high-speed wireless network covers all academic and administrative buildings, residence halls, athletic facilities, and popular outdoor gathering spaces on campus. Fiber-optic voice, data, and visual networks also link classrooms, laboratories, residence halls, and offices.
The university has 11 general-purpose computer labs, 150 college/departmental labs, 15 residence hall labs, five labs for new media, an adaptive technology lab, and two computer testing labs. There is one computer for nearly every student on campus.
