Workshops and School-Based Consulting
EPIC staff will conduct workshops as needed and as designed with participating schools. Your EPIC binder can be used to organize materials, but each school will have different content in its binder over time.

2008 Teacher Stipends. Teachers participating in EPIC will receive $800 per year as compensation for participating in EPIC. 40 hours of participation is expected at a rate of $20/hour. Participation time is made of organized meetings, workshops, and completion of deliverables determined in concert with each school. Each school will design its professional development and stages of deliverables with its EPIC faculty liaison. Stipends will be processed in two batches per school. The schools may have different timelines, depending on their deliverables, but the general timeline is as follows:
  • Completion of first half of pre-designated deliverables: Aug. 31, 2008
  • Expected delivery of first $400 stipend check: Sep. 30, 2008
  • Completion of second half of pre-designated deliverables: Nov. 30, 2008
  • Expected delivery of second $400 stipend check: Dec. 31, 2008

Professional and Graduate Credit for EPIC Teachers. Teachers in EPIC can earn Continuing Education Units (CEUs) or Continuing Professional Education (CPE) hours.  Graduate credit is also be available. Contact epic@bsu.edu for more information.

Supplies and Materials Budget. Each teacher has a $100 budget to use for instructional materials and/or professional development resources. Depending on the school and its unique instructional goals, some texts used for professional development will be purchased from this fund (your liaison will coordinate this with your school). Please confirm with your EPIC faculty liaison how much is in your budget. Send all your items in a single request and submit to epic@bsu.edu by Sep. 1, 2008. Do not expect delivery of materials before Oct. 1.

Participation Forms. At your first workshop or in an envelop mailed to your school, you will be asked to complete a general information sheet, a research participation form, and a photo release form. If you do not receive these forms by Aug. 1, please contact EPIC.
