Technology Resources

For over two decades, the Department of English has worked to integrate technology and pedagogy. Herb Stahlke, Richard Whitworth, Forrest Houlette, Web Newbold, and Linda Hanson asked the earlier questions, sought funding, and convinced others that students' literacy was already significantly affected by technology. As educators, we simply had to understand and build on those connections.

In the summer of 1998, then chairperson, Tom Koontz, and Director of the Writing Program, Carole Clark Papper convinced the university to invest in eight technology classrooms for all ENG 101, ENG 102, and ENG 103 sections (over 175 a year). That effort, our " Writing, Computers, and Literacy Initiative (WCLI)", was made possible by the willingness of significant members of our contract faculty to question and change their own teaching methods.

Also available directly from this page is a guide to our technology classrooms, originally developed by Windy Rachel, a graduate student in our Ph.D. Composition/Rhetoric program and an experienced technical writer. Faculty can also report any problems in our classrooms and check to see when reported problems have been addressed.

Finally, browse Ball Point, our Writing Program manual, now available only online.
