Practical Criticism Midwest XIII

NEGOTIATING THE LANDSCAPE OF LANGUAGE

Friday, 7 February 2003

Virginia B. Ball Center for Creative Inquiry

Welcome!

Practical Criticism Midwest XIII took place on February 7, 2003 at the Virginia B. Ball Center for Creative Inquiry from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Images from this year's conference are now online.

PCM is an annual in-house conference for Ball State English graduate students.

PCM is a friendly forum for graduate students to present papers to their fellow peers and faculty. Priority is given to first time PCM presenters. PCM gives students an opportunity not only to present but to organize the conference the following year. Presenters in PCM XIII belong to the PCM XIV committee.

Encouraging one another to share our ideas, our current research, and our recent writings epitomizes graduate study. In fact, the profession itself encourages such sharing in the form of conferences. Conferences allow all of us to display our scholarly work, to introduce others to what we're thinking, and to get crucial feedback on what we've done. This year we invite faculty to join the graduate students in presenting research and writing.

Presenting a paper at a conference for the first time can be a frightening prospect. Practical Criticism Midwest is a department-wide intellectual show-and-tell, a chance for students in the department to get involved with colleagues and practice presenting professionally.
