Foreign Language
Reading competency in one foreign language.

Comprehensive Examinations
Students take comprehensive examinations covering the concentration and cognates. Oral examinations follow the writtens.

Dissertation
Candidates for the Ph.D. must complete a dissertation on an original topic under the guidance of a committee of faculty. An oral defense follows the completion of the dissertation.
