Teaching Philosophy
I base my instruction around the belief that most of the writing our
students do—either within or beyond the academy—is rhetorical in nature.
Therefore I encourage students to approach each writing task in a very
thoughtful and analytical way, paying careful attention to the audience
and context, and making very conscious decisions based on their analyses
of the rhetorical situation. By returning constantly to these rhetorical
issues, I hope to provide students with the flexible tools they need to
succeed in a variety of writing tasks and personal interactions.
