NOVUS COMPETITION The Committee for the Advancement of Early Studies announces a competition for emerging scholars who are earning a masters or a doctorate or who have received either degree in the past seven years. All suitable papers will be awarded presentation time of twenty to twenty-five minutes, and the outstanding papers will be awarded presentation time plus small monetary prizes. Please send four copies of the completed paper plus verification of progress toward degree or degree date to the Convener. Deadline: 31 May 2004. ANTIQUUS--ESTABLISHED SCHOLARSThe Committee for the Advancement of Early Studies invites established scholars to share their years of experience and valuable research with the conference participants. Finished papers should be limited to a twenty to twenty-five minutes presentation in order to leave five to ten minutes for questions. Please send four copies of a one page abstract to the Convener. Deadline: 31 May 2004. UNDERGRADUATE PRIZES IN EARLY STUDIESThe Committee for the Advancement of Early Studies invites ten to fifteen page essays by superior undergraduate students. All suitable papers will be awarded presentation time of twenty to twenty-five minutes, and small monetary prizes will be awarded for the best research presented. THE INTERNATIONAL SOCIETY OF HILDEGARD VON BINGEN STUDIES The Committee for the Advancement of Early Studies has invited The International Society of Hildegard von Bingen Studies to hold its Twentieth Anniversary Celebration in conjunction with the CAES Conference. The celebration will present plenary speakers, papers, poetry readings, concerts, and exhibits. The Society invites abstracts and ideas on any subject connected to Hildegard von Bingen (medicine, law, philosophy, theology, Latin, German, theater, poetry, music, mathematics, painting). Please send four copies to the Convener. Deadline: 31 May 2004. SESSION CHAIRS NOTE: The CAES Conference continues to welcome presentations from all academic areas of Early, Medieval and Renaissance Studies and wishes in particular to expand the number of presentations in Classical Studies, including the Classical Tradition, and in Neo Latin Studies.
