Two Evenings with Three Newly Published Authors and the Editor in Chief of The Sycamore Review
Three newly published authors—Nickole Brown, Laurie Lindeen, and Kyle Minor—along with Editor in Chief, Mehdi Okasi, of the acclaimed literary magazine, The Sycamore Review, will kick off the fourth annual In Print Festival of First Books at Ball State University with a reading on Wednesday, March 25th at 7 p.m. in the Museum of Art, Room 217. On the following evening, Thursday, March 26th at 7 p.m., also in Room 217 of the Museum of Art, the three In Print 4 authors and editor will meet for a panel discussion on writing and publishing. The In Print Festival is part of the 2008-2009 Visiting Writers Series sponsored by Creative Writing in the Department of English. Refreshments will be served and books will be sold and signed at both events which are free and open to the public.
In Print will also mark the release of Ball State's national literary magazine, The Broken Plate, which is edited by Ball State students. This issue will feature a special In Print section, featuring the work of our visiting writiers.

Kyle Minor

Kyle Minor is the author of In the Devil's Territory, a collection of short fiction published November 2008 from Dzanc Books. His work appears widely in magazines and anthologies, among them The Southern Review, The Gettysburg Review, Surreal South, Twentysomething Essays by Twentysomething Writers, and Best American Mystery Stories 2008. He is also co-editor, with Okla Elliott, of The Other Chekhov (New American Press, 2008). His writing has been lauded by The Atlantic Monthly, The Columbus Dispatch, and Random House. Kyle is currently Visiting Writer at the University of Toledo.

Laurie Lindeen
Moving to Minneapolis in the mid-'80's, Laurie and her girlfriends formed the
band Zuzu's Petals.
After the band, She went from songwriting to prose writing. A house,
parenthood, and an MFA in Creative Writing followed. Her memoir, Petal
Pusher, was published by Atria Books in 2007. Laurie teaches memoir in local schools as a resident writer through
a non-profit arts organization.

Nickole Brown


Nickole Brown is a poet and fiction writer. Her debut collection of poetry, Sister, was published by Red Hen Press in September 2007. Her work has been featured in The Writer's Chronicle, Poets & Writers, Another Chicago Magazine, Diagram Magazine, 32 Poems, The Lumberyard, The Cortland Review, Post Road, and Mammoth Books' Sudden Stories anthology. Nickole is currently a freelance publicist at Arktoi Books and Persea Books, and she is adjunct faculty at Bellarmine University and the University of Louisville.
