Bill Barich

Please join us in welcoming acclaimed writer Bill Barich to Ball State University! Mr. Barich will be giving an informal talk about his writing career – including the story of how “The New Yorker plucked [him] from obscurity” – on Monday, October 6th at 3:00 p.m. in RB 361. Later that evening, Mr. Barich will be giving a public reading in Bracken 225 at 7:00 p.m. Refreshments will be offered before the reading and book signing will be conducted after.
Bill Barich is the author of seven books, including Laughing in the Hills, named one of the hundred best sports books of all time by Sports Illustrated. Other works include a novel, Carson Valley, and most recently a work of nonfiction, A Fine Place to Daydream: Racehorses, Romance, and the Irish. His new book, A Pint of Plain (Bloomsbury/Walker, 2009), is about the decline of the traditional Irish pub. Barich is currently living and working in Dublin.
