Ball State students, faculty, and the Muncie community all benefit from the
Visiting Writers Series produced by Creative Writing in the
Department of English. In addition to giving inspiring readings and meeting
with the public to sign books, these writers also visit classrooms to talk to students about their lives as
working writers.
Another exciting event, hosted annually, is the In Print Festival, a two-day event featuring readings given by talented and authors as well as panel discussions and classroom visits.
The Creative Writing Graduate program hosts Penscape, a reading in which creative writing M.A. candidates share their work.
Professor Barbara Bogue
oversees Creative Writing in the Community,
a required
course for undergraduate creative writing majors in which students pair up
with the clients, students, and residencies from five local agencies.
The results are inspirational stories that are read for the public and
published collaboratively.
