*EDEL 301       Teaching in the Pre-K/Kindergarten Program/Practicum (3)

*SS 398             Teaching Social Studies in Early Childhood/Kindergarten-Grade 3 (3) (FALL ONLY)

*MATHS 391   Teaching and Learning Mathematics in the Elementary School (3)

*EDEL 381       Interaction Skills for the Young Child (3)

Directed Elective:

        PEP 218             Developmental Aquatics for Preschoolers (1)

        PEP 291             Motor Development of Young Children (3)

        PEP 361             Dance for Children (2)

        SPCED 210       Theory and Practices in Early Childhood Special Education (3)

       * EDEL 442         Administration of Early Childhood Programs (3)

  Fall or Spring

*EDEL 351       Teaching in the Kindergarten/Primary Program/Practicum (3)

*SPCED 302     Teaching Students with Disabilities in the General Education Classroom (3)

*SCI 398           Teaching Science in the Early and Primary Grades (3) – (SPRING ONLY)

*EDPSY 393     Educational Psychology for Elementary Education (3)

*EDRDG 430   Corrective Reading/Practicum (3)

  *Requires admission to the teaching curriculum to register.

  By the end of the third year, each student should have:

1. Completed EDEL 301, EDRDG 400, EDEL 351, EDPSY 393, SS 398, and

SCI 398 with at least a grade of "C", and MATHS 391 with at least a grade of "C-";

2. Maintained at least a 2.5 overall G.P.A.;

3. Completed all Department and College Standards;

4. Passed the Writing Competency Exam.

*EDEL 401       Student Teaching: Kindergarten  (8 weeks) (6)

*EDEL 402       Student Teaching: Primary Grades (8 weeks) (6)

*EDFON 420    Social, Historical, and Philosophical Foundations of Education (3)

  Spring

  *EDEL 231    Family and Community Relations (3)

*EDEL 400       Student Teaching: Pre-Kindergarten (8 weeks) (6)

*EDEL 450       Senior Seminar in Early Childhood and Elementary Education (3)

  *Requires admission to the teaching curriculum to register.

  By the end of the fourth year, each student should have:

1. Passed the designated Specialty test for the Praxis II Exams;

2. Completed all requirements for graduation;

3. Applied for graduation;

4. Completed all Department and College Standards for licensure by the State of Indiana.
