Pre-Elementary Education Requirements: A Guide for Students
All students admitted to Ball State University will be admitted to the Pre-Elementary Education Program by declaring their interest in a program of Elementary Education or Early Childhood Education.

First Year (31 semester hours)

By the end of the first year each student should have:

Passed all sections of the Pre-professional Skills Test

Completed the Computer Science Placement Test or completed CS 102 or ITDPT 110

Identified a major in Early Childhood or in Elementary Education; and

Identified a Content Concentration Area to pursue as part of the Elementary Education program. (Early Childhood majors do not have a Concentration Area.)

By the end of the second year each student should have:

Applied for admission to the teaching curriculum, while enrolled in EDEL 200;

Achieved at least a 2.5 overall G.P.A.;

Completed EDEL 200 with at least a grade of "C"; and

Been accepted into the Teaching Curriculum with an identified major of Elementary Education (including a designated Concentration Area), or with an identified major of Early Childhood Education.

To complete your degree, select an Elementary Education Teaching Program:
